Over 40 Years of Innovation to Improve Public Health

PHAI, based at Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, spearheads a range of important public health advocacy and research initiatives.  These include:

  •  a non-profit public health law firm that has taken on the tobacco, vape, and sugary drink industries;
  • a public health policy support program, particularly focusing on tobacco prevention policies;
  • a trauma-informed violence reduction program leveraging artists and artmaking to support public health and wellness goals;
  • coordinated efforts to reduce gun violence and mitigate its effects;
  • seeking out policy approaches to reduce the harms caused by food, gambling, and opioid pharmaceutical corporations; 
  • working to improve occupational safety for the most vulnerable workers; and
  • publishing scholarship to support these efforts (e.g., DaynardGottliebFriedman)
